The name of the electronic project from Tashkent refers to the Qaraqum desert and reflects the connection with the native land, history and spirit of ancestors. The band was founded by a group of friends in 2020 and is still exploring the musical heritage of the region, combining traditional instruments and Uzbek maqoms with electronic music.
The recordings of the project bring to life national instruments such as the ghijak, sato, tanbur, rubab, nai, daf, and nagara. Each track of the band is a separate story inspired by folk tales, philosophy and the energy of the surrounding world. The musicians believe that the cultural heritage of Central Asia contains a rich variety of beautiful sounds and textures, which they carefully integrate into modern electronic music.
The Qaraqoom releases on prestigious international labels. In addition, the band manages its own label «QARAQOOM Records». The project regularly participates in major festivals and its work consistently resonates with listeners from different cities and countries.
The band has prepared a selection of original music for the guests of the «WORLD of Siberia», where the sultry rhythms of the East are combined with the fresh breath of modern electronics.
