ielele
They are named after the good spirits from Romanian folklore, who protect forests, dance under the moon, and have a mystical attraction. The band ielele (pronounced as «yelele») is a Moscow band that transforms Moldovan and Balkan ballads into modern rock hits.
The vocals of the band's ideological inspirer, Karolina Korsakova, are sometimes shamanic, sometimes piercingly lyrical, serving as a bridge between cultural heritage and the contemporary scene. Along with it, the precise work of the guitar, bass and drums creates a dense, hypnotic sound that makes you want to close your eyes and dissolve into the music.
The ielele band carefully preserves the authentic lyrics of folk songs, the original stories of ancient rituals and legends, and the wisdom of Romanian and Moldovan folklore in their fiery compositions. At the same time, the musicians bring archaic elements to life in a way that is relatable to everyone, helping listeners reconnect with their roots and find harmony.
The artists are confident that folk music carries messages for modern audiences that can help them better understand each other and the world around them. They see the mission of their creative work as an effort to break down barriers and build bridges between cultures and people.
